"The righteous will flourish like a palm tree, they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon… they will still bear fruit in old age, they will stay fresh and green."
— Psalm 92:12, 14
Good evening everyone. It is a joy and privilege to stand here tonight and honour Solomon Wellington as he celebrates this significant milestone — his 50th birthday.
There are some individuals whose lives are not easily described by ordinary words. They deserve words of greater weight — words that speak not merely of personality, but of character. Solomon is one such person.
If I were to describe him, I would begin with magnanimity — greatness of soul. Solomon has a generous spirit that makes room for others. Whether through friendship, counsel, or quiet acts of kindness, he gives of himself freely.
I would also speak of his probity, that rare integrity that remains steady regardless of circumstance. Solomon is a man whose character inspires trust. His words carry sincerity, and his actions reflect principle.
Another word fitting for him is fortitude. Through responsibilities, challenges, and the demands of life, he has shown quiet strength. Not strength that seeks recognition, but strength revealed through perseverance.
And then there is constancy — a quality those who know him have witnessed over the years. In family, in faith, in friendship, and in community service, Solomon has been steadfast. His loyalty is not temporary; it is rooted.
I have especially seen these qualities through our shared work in community and in the spirit of service. Where others may simply participate, Solomon contributes with thoughtfulness, humility, and commitment. He carries a sense of responsibility toward others that reflects true noblesse — not nobility of title, but nobility of character.
I would add forbearance, because wisdom often shows itself in patience, restraint, and grace under pressure. Solomon possesses that. And perhaps one more word: benevolence — to will good for others. That, I believe, captures much of who he is.
At fifty, we do not merely celebrate years lived; we celebrate character formed. We celebrate a husband, a father, a friend, a brother, and a man of faith whose life has touched many people — sometimes publicly, often quietly, but always meaningfully.
Solomon, thank you for your friendship. Thank you for your example. Thank you for the strength, integrity, and kindness you bring to those around you. As you enter this next chapter, may the years ahead be marked by renewed purpose, deep joy, continued health, and God's abundant favour upon you and your family.
Happy 50th Birthday, Solomon. We honour you, we celebrate you, and we thank God for your life.
"Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master's happiness!"
— Matthew 25:23
Postscript · A Sixth Observation
Solomon's Ministry of Communication
By a modest estimate — if Solomon has sent just 25 WhatsApp messages a day over the past 15 years, and spent only 30 seconds composing each one — he has written approximately 136,875 messages.
That amounts to 1,141 hours. That is 47 days — day and night — spent typing.
Forty-seven days. My conclusion is simple:
That is not texting. That is perseverance. That is not messaging. That is fortitude with thumbs.
And when you consider how many of those messages were encouragement, reminders, wisdom, follow-ups, and probably the occasional "Please see below" — we may have discovered a modern expression of benevolence.
A Second Tribute
The Working Boat
Spoken By Stalin Michael
Solomon’s 50th Birthday Celebration
Dallas, TX · April 24, 2026
Good evening everyone. Tonight, I want to begin with an image. There are, in my mind, two kinds of boats.
There is the viewing boat. In that boat, people observe the water, discuss the wind, comment on direction, perhaps even offer opinions on how the boat ought to move.
And then there is the working boat. In that boat, someone rows. Someone steers. Someone watches the currents. Someone adjusts when the wind shifts. Someone takes responsibility for movement.
Many of us, if we are honest, have spent portions of life in viewing boats. Solomon has spent much of his life in a working boat. And perhaps that is why some of his traits are sometimes misunderstood — because people often misread what they have not had to carry.
How many of us here have received a Solomon reminder, then a second reminder, then a calendar invite, then a personal follow-up — and perhaps, if we were still slow to respond, an RSVP request? Then you already know: we are not merely celebrating a man tonight. We are celebrating a system. And a very effective one.
Happy 50th Birthday, Solomon.
Virtues Wearing Work Clothes
First
Some may think Solomon is a strict organizer — that he wants too much control. But I have come to see that differently. He does not control for power; he coordinates for excellence. That is not controlling — that is steering the boat. Conscientiousness. Stewardship. Quality. Risk prevention. Many successful things happen because someone cared enough to row.
Second
Some say Solomon over-communicates — too many reminders, too many polls, too many “please confirm.” No — he communicates redundantly because he values clarity. That is not excess. That is calling the rowing rhythm, keeping everyone in sync. And if we are honest, some of us are here because reminder number four worked.
Third
Some ask why Solomon sends a group message — and then sends one individually. Because he reinforces publicly, but honors privately. That is not repetition. That is respect. That is noticing every person in the boat.
Fourth
Some notice Solomon blocks calendars early. Very early. Sometimes, gloriously early. But he plans early because good outcomes start early. That is reading the currents before the storm arrives. That is foresight. That is preparation.
Fifth
Too many meetings? Too many invites? Too much coordination? Perhaps. But Solomon would rather over-align than under-deliver. That is not bureaucracy. That is keeping everyone rowing in the same direction.
The Pattern
· Precision mistaken for control.
· Thoroughness mistaken for excess.
· Respect mistaken for repetition.
· Foresight mistaken for pressure.
· Fellowship-building mistaken for over-effort.
But these are not flaws. These are virtues viewed from the wrong angle.
And after 136,875 messages, countless meetings, countless reminders, years of rowing — we can safely say:
Solomon did not merely sit in the boat. He helped move it.
Solomon — thank you for your conscientious spirit, your thoroughness, your foresight, your faithfulness — and yes, your calendar invites.
Happy 50th Birthday. We praise God, and celebrate your fifty years of life. We thank God for your life.
— Stalin Michael

"

Chapter I · The Meeting
Where the Road Began
Before there was a ministry, there was a meeting. Two lives — each already shaped by the quiet hand of God — drew near to one another. What began as friendship deepened into recognition: the kind of recognition that sees not only who someone is, but who they will become together.
II
Chapter II · The Vow
An Altar, A Covenant
When Solomon and Becky stood before the Lord and one another, they did not promise easy years. They promised faithful ones. The vow was not a contract of convenience — it was a covenant of consecration. Two persons, one direction. Two voices, one prayer.
III
Chapter III · The Building
Brick by Quiet Brick
Marriages are not made in a single day; they are built — quietly, daily, patiently. Through prayer letters and mission trips, through Friday rhythms and Sunday prayers, through hard seasons and harvest seasons, Solomon and Becky have laid one faithful brick after another. The walls of their home shelter not only their family, but many.
IV
Chapter IV · The Children
A Heritage of the Lord
Jessica, Joshua, and Judah grew up watching what cannot be taught — only witnessed. A father who shepherds. A mother who steadies. A home where scripture is read aloud, where guests are welcomed, where prayer is the first response and not the last. The ministry has many addresses. It begins at theirs.
V
Chapter V · The Continuing
Still Walking, Still Sowing
Twenty-three years on, the road has not flattened — it has lengthened. New fellowships, new fields, new generations to disciple. And still, two figures walk together at the head of the procession — slower perhaps, but steadier. Their story is not yet finished. It is only deepening.
"She is more precious than rubies; nothing you desire can compare with her… Her husband is respected at the city gate."
— Proverbs 3:15 · 31:23

He did not merely serve children — he sustained those who served them. Tutors and team members were encouraged, prayed for, and strengthened through partnership and modelled servant leadership.

In His Honour
"Some lives are not easily described by ordinary words. They deserve words of greater weight — words that speak not merely of personality, but of character."

A generous spirit that makes room for others. Whether through friendship, counsel, or quiet acts of kindness, he gives of himself freely.
2
Probity

That rare integrity which holds firm regardless of circumstance. His words carry sincerity; his actions reflect principle.
3
Fortitude
· Quiet strength
Through responsibilities, challenges, and the demands of life — strength not seeking recognition, but revealed through perseverance.
4
Constancy
· Rooted loyalty
In family, in faith, in friendship, in community — steadfast across the years. His loyalty is not temporary; it is rooted.
5
Noblesse
· Nobility of character
Where others merely participate, he contributes with thoughtfulness and humility — a sense of responsibility toward others that reflects nobility not of title, but of character.
6
Forbearance
· Grace under pressure
Wisdom shown in patience and restraint — a calm bearing that lets others breathe and lets situations settle.
7
Benevolence
· The will to do good
The quiet, steady will to do good for others. More than any single word, this captures who Solomon is.
These qualities I have witnessed firsthand in our shared work — where others merely participate, Solomon contributes with thoughtfulness, humility, and a sense of responsibility that reflects true noblesse: not nobility of title, but nobility of character.
And perhaps one more word — benevolence: the quiet will to do good for others. That, more than any single word, captures who Solomon is.

A Lasting Benediction
Carrying the Legacy Forward
A jubilee is not an ending. It is a marker — a stone of remembrance set quietly in the ground, so that those who follow may know what God has done and take courage for the road ahead.
For the Children
May the songs sung, the prayers whispered, and the lessons taught at Bear Creek echo through their lives long after the lights are dimmed.
For the Family
May Becky, Jessica, Joshua and Judah continue to walk in the strength of a name made honourable by quiet, faithful constancy.
For the Ministry
May YLWM keep gathering, shepherding, and sending — a stream that began small and now waters many fields.
"Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us — to Him be glory…"
